Penguins Franchise Bought Out
Wednesday, February 27, 2008

--

Surprisingly, the Pittsburgh Penguins have been the first team in the NASHL to be bought out. The Pens could not keep their finances up, and thus they have been forced to sell the team. Defenceman Alex Goligoski has announced that he is unhappy with this move and has decided to test the open market, and will be recieving offers along with other unassigned players in about 1 weeks time.

The Penguins were eliminated in 6 games in Round 1 of the playoffs by the New York Islanders, who moved on to the Cup finals to be torn apart by Rod Brind'Amour and his Nashville Predators in 5 games.

When asked how he felt about the move to Quebec, GM Dave Paradis said - "Glad that Canada gets another hockey team, moving that might revive the best sport rivalry ever, exciting for Rimouski fans to see Crosby close of their town, Bernier is happy to be back in Quebec aswell. Personnaly, enthusiasm to GM my hometown hockey club and favorite team... okay, needs some wording but you have the main ideas."

GM Paradis has also denied any rumours that young stars Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Jonathan Bernier have demanded trades. "The people spreading this rumors are nuts. Bernier hasn't played one second in the NASHL yet, will be given the reign of a potential contender, he's returning to his hometown. Why would he want out? Crosby is the captain of our team, he played his junior in Quebec. He's really happy with the team right now. Malkin loves the fact he'll play with better linemates this season and the team is more competitive."

And so begins a new dynasty in Quebec, we're hoping that the rivalry between the newly re-instated Quebec Nordiques and the Montreal Canadiens won't get too heated. Habs GM Alessandro could not be contacted for his opinion.

There were also some talks about the Columbus Blue Jackets being bought out, but nothing has happened yet and it is likely nothing WILL happen... at least not this time around.
